In order for us to achieve our goal of increasing awareness for literacy, the underlying issue must be addressed:
Children in classrooms around the world are being deprived of enriching literature due to financial concerns or strict educational guidelines. Think about the first story you read: the anticipation, the excitement, the urge to keep reading unfolding the story. As a child, these emotions are amplified as a love for reading is fostered. It is how creativity in children brews at such a young age.
Alas, creativity takes courage. We must take the necessary actions to help students have access to new stories by advocating for the importance of literature in schools, specifically in areas where access may be limited.
